Wellness retreat centre (25 min drive from Civic) seeking an experienced health conscious and passionate Chef/Cook to join our team, providing lunch and dinner for 6-10 people. Hours are Monday to Friday 11am – 6pm. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food nutrition, preparation and technique, and be able to cater for all dietary requirements. You will be responsible for preparing delicious and nutritious meals and snacks during the week, and advance prep some meals for the weekend, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly. Must have own reliable vehicle.
Responsibilities:
- Menu plan, prep, set up and serve quality lunches, dinners and nutritious treats for retreat centre guests and staff
- Ensure that all menu items are prepared to the highest standard and in a timely manner
- Maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
- Ensure kitchen is kept clean, well-stocked, and organized at all times
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in good working order and well-maintained
- Ensure that food safety and hygiene practices are adhered to at all times
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef/Cook
- Good knowledge of different dietary requirements/restrictions and the ability to prepare good quality food catering to individual needs (vegetarian/vegan, paleo, lacto-intolerant, food allergies etc.)
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills
- Passion for cooking and creating new dishes
