About Mulungu
Mulungu is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation focused on providing holistic services to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on the Tablelands.
About the Role
This role will take the lead in coordinating a Community Controlled Suicide Prevention Network. In this role you will be developing and facilitating a culturally appropriate Network Suicide Prevention Plan by engaging with the ATSI community and relevant service providers.
The program aims to provide culturally appropriate mental health services and improve access to Suicide Prevention services, reducing Suicide Prevention outcomes and reducing the prevalence of self-harm.
Selection Criteria
SC 1 Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective, including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
SC 2 Demonstratable high-level leadership skills and experience including the ability to build and effectively manage relationships at all levels both within and outside the organisation.
SC 3 Developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability liaise and establish a network comprising key stakeholders.
SC 4 Demonstrated knowledge of the understanding National Agreement on closing the gap 2020 in particular outcome 14) towards a significant and sustained reductions in suicide of ATSI people.
SC 5 Demonstrate your understanding of a cultural appropriate mental health system.
Additional FactorsMust have requirements for this role include:
- Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- Current ‘Open' drivers' licence
- Australian Federal Police Check (or willingness to apply)
- Current Working with Children Blue Card (Paid)
- 3 years' experience in a Coordinator role.
- Qualifications and or experience in Mental Health
