This ACCHS is committed to supporting Aboriginal communities’ own solutions to living long healthy lives; strengthen their culture; and regain their spirit. Also, this ACCHS provides a broad range of primary health care and aged care services and is now the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service provider by land area in Queensland.
The Suicide Prevention Network Coordinator of the Community-Controlled Suicide Prevention Network (CCSPN) supports local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities to improve access to culturally safe and appropriate Suicide Prevention services. In partnership with community you will coordinate, co-design and advocate for funding and the development of a Network Suicide Prevention Plan. In partnership with stakeholders, Community leaders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led whole-of-population Suicide Prevention services, you will evaluate and monitor activities, identify, resolve, and report on the barriers to accessing Suicide Prevention and social and emotional wellbeing services.

Selection Criteria:
• Knowledge of mental health, Suicide Prevention and social and emotional wellbeing services available, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led, and whole-of-population services.
• Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with key sector stakeholders, including service providers and key referral pathways for Suicide Prevention.
• Experience identifying risk factors, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on desired outcomes.
• Experience and knowledge of the barriers to accessing Suicide Prevention and social and emotional wellbeing services.
• Knowledge of existing local/regional Suicide Prevention strategies and/or policies.
• Knowledge of existing funding arrangements, and future funding opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led Suicide Prevention activity in their region.
• Experience advocating for funding from a wide range of sources to enhance Suicide Prevention services and build network capacity.
• Knowledge of relevant Communities of Practice, established to support ACCHOs in undertaking service activities, and facilitate sharing of best practice and expertise.
• Experience facilitating meetings.
• An understanding of the health issues impacting the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes.
• Commitment to the philosophy and practice of an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service and the ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Demonstrated ability to work with high level of independence and minimal supervision and/ or in as a sole professional in this environment.
• Allied Health Worker (desirable) or some clinical administration experience.???
• Strong administration skills.
• Knowledge of charting software used in clinical practice.
• Good communication skills with experience in Aboriginal and Torres Islander service delivery.
Other Requirements:
• Current C Class Driver’s License (QLD) – essential.
• Current police check, Working with Vulnerable People clearance.
• Current Blue Card (working with children and young people) or willingness to apply.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as required, including the requirement to travel, work and stay overnight for up to several days at a time in remote areas.
