In delivering an annual program of events and major projects, the Fleurieu Environment Centre is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as a part-time Coordinator.
This role involves handling the administration and financial aspects of the organisation, overseeing volunteer recruitment and management, managing our Eco Shop, assisting with the implementing of our educational events and providing support to the community in adopting sustainable practices and engaging with local environmental initiatives.

Working initially as a Job share with our current Coordinator until 30 June 2024 (to align with our annual funding arrangements), this position will transition to a 25 hours per week role after 1st July 2024.
Responsibilities:
Centre Management:
- Ensure the effective and efficient management of the Centre. Including generating and maintaining databases, records management systems, reporting requirements, work health & safety requirements
- Undertake financial management duties, including banking and efficient use of accounting software.
- Skills in the production of social media and communications.
- Provide high quality advice and assistance to customers in the use of the FLEC’s resources, services and facilities and referral to expert providers for advice on natural resource management.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for various projects and initiatives.
- Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer culture within the organisation.
- Develop and implement volunteer appreciation programs to recognise and reward contributions.
- Collaborate with local environment groups, organisations and authorities to strengthen community partnerships.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Eco Shop, ensuring a wide range of sustainable products are available.
- Manage inventory, restocking, and product selection in alignment with environmental values.
- Collaborate with local suppliers and artisans to source eco-friendly products.
- Organise workshops, seminars, and outreach programs to promote environmental awareness and action.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to ensure successful event outcomes.
- Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of events to continually improve future initiatives.
- A passion for environmental conservation and sustainable living.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in event coordination and management.
- Experience with running a small business and small business accounting.
- Ability to recruit, motivate, and manage volunteers effectively.
- Knowledge of eco-friendly products and sustainable practices.
- Familiarity with community engagement and outreach strategies.
