- Based in the Altona Civic Centre minimum three days per week.
We are seeking an experienced professional with relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in industry, business, and economic development. The ideal candidate will have a track record of leading teams, adept navigation of industry landscapes, and the ability to cultivate and foster meaningful relationships. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement economic development, visitor economy and investment attraction strategies using data and market research. The ideal candidate will contribute to policy development, exhibit project management expertise, and have a commitment to ethical conduct and transparency.
What you’ll be working on
The key duties of the Coordinator City Economy include:
- Coordinate activities and provide advice to support City-wide economic, visitor economy and investment attraction programs and initiatives.
- Drive policy and strategy for Council in this area, translating this to on-the-ground delivery in the community.
- Engage and consult with elected members, business, the community, and stakeholders to identify their requirements and use this information to guide strategy, policy, plans and action.
- Monitor and review financial budgets along with seeking external funding and support.
- Promote a positive and collaborative culture that is values driven through open, fair, and transparent decision making along with ethical and professional behaviour.
- Lead a team of Economic Development professionals.
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. All applications will be considered.
- Tertiary qualifications in economy development, tourism and/or business commerce, marketing.
- Excellent public relations skills and demonstrated ability to negotiate and liaise with all levels of government, businesses, the community and key project stakeholders.
- Demonstrated financial management skills related to feasibility studies, business cases and projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team.
