The Role: 

As a result of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Mental Health, the Department of Health has provided funding to enable regional Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (ICY AMHWS), to implement or uplift group-Based Parenting programs for parents, families, carers and supporters of children aged 0-11 year who are registered with the ICY AMHWS. 

A new position has been created for a suitably qualified professional to coordinate, develop, facilitate and evaluate Group-Based Parenting programs to be delivered by CYMHS (Child Youth Mental Health Services at Mildura Base Public Hospital). 

The aim of the program is to assist parents, families, carers and supporters to strengthen individual and family relationships which, in turn, support children experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges.  Groupwork also aims to increase parents and carers skills and confidence to identify, support and effectively parent challenging behaviour.
