Coordinator Logistics and Quarry Operations
Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $107,656, plus up to 13% superannuation
Role Overview
The Coordinator Logistics and Quarry Operations plays a pivotal role in supporting all operational areas of Council in the planning, coordination of resources including plant, operators, materials, quarries and pits. The role supports the Manager Operations Roads and Drainage in providing a complete Logistics and Quarry Operations function to support the whole of Council and maximise the efficiency.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Deliver the endorsed objectives and targets for the Unit as outlined in the Corporate Plan, Operational Plan, Business Plan, contract documentation, report on key deliverables for the team and staff development reviews.
- Manage the planning, delivery and reporting of the unit activities in line with legislation, Council’s policies, and procedures to mitigate non-compliances, and report on the units performance to regulators.
- Analyse costs, utilisation, productivities, current market rates and trends to achieve best financial outcomes for council.
- Manage the Logistics and Quarry Operations unit and subcontractors in day-to-day operations.
- Manage, monitor and report on internal and external plant and equipment requirements and Quarry material sources to maximise utilisation and productivity.
- To manage the procurement and contractual arrangements for hired plant, quarry and landscape materials, fuel, and Quarry Operations, including crushing and screening contracts.
- Review, develop and implement management plans, systems and procedures included but not limited to site based management plans, operational plans, internal/external resource forecasting and scheduling tools, works instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Investigate and report on incidents related to the activities of the unit.
- Provide technical support with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, risk and environmental management and continuous improvement.
- Liaise closely with all areas of Council in delivering a responsive service that satisfies Gympie Regional Council’s Customer Service Standards.
- Exercising sound judgement, initiative and confidentiality including an ongoing review of business systems and processes within the unit as part of a continuous improvement process
- Foster a positive relationship with all key stakeholders.
- Support and promote a positive and cooperative team environment, which fosters creative problem solving and shared learning.
- Maintain a positive organisational image, which promotes good customer relations and maximises the provision of a high level of service to enhance the customer experience.
Essential Requirements:
- Extensive experience in the management of plant and materials used in the civil construction industry.
- Extensive experience of the legislative requirements the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NVHR) and Queensland Mines and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999.
- Experience in the management and operations of quarries and pits.
- Experience in the production and transport of materials, including programming and scheduling.
- Demonstrated ability in leadership and management of teams.
- Demonstrated experience of working in a team environment, and autonomously to achieve the best outcomes.
- Excellent computer literacy and experience in using handheld computer devices.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, keen attention to detail and advanced planning and organisation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and foster a customer service culture.
- Knowledge of contract management, plant hire, procurement and probity.
- Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
- Construction Industry White/Blue card.
