Primary objectives of the position:

  • Manage all I&TS programs and projects from the executive approved project pipeline portfolio, liaising with Directorates; working collaboratively with Directors, Executive Managers and other key council stakeholders overseeing project implementation, financial and administrative oversight, procurement and contracting, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation of councils prioritised projects.
  • Lead and manage the Project Delivery Team (Senior Project Managers) ensuring the team has the capacity and capability to manage their workload and deliver successful project outcomes. 
  • Effectively manage the conflicting demands of operational and strategic programs and project work, with a keen eye for identifying Risks that could ‘derail’ programs / projects, developing mitigation strategies to solve problems, thinking of unique and creative ways to resolve and manage the conflicting priorities within the approved project pipeline portfolio.
  • The position contributes collaboratively with the I&TS Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure effective delivery of services, and improved business stakeholder satisfaction across the domains of technology, information and project management.

  • Will be a team player working with and across different I&TS sections including external resources, team building to help build team cohesion to overcome challenges, pursuing productive win-win relationships to achieve successful project outcomes.

About the Information & Technology Services (I&TS) Team:
The Finance & Business Services Directorate provides essential internal services that support the Council to deliver services to the community. 

I&TS key activities include the provision and support of information management & technology solutions and with sections providing Project Delivery, Business Engagement, Enterprise Systems, Enterprise Architecture & IT Infrastructure / Operations Support that are well established and aligned with the requirements of the Council.

The Project Delivery team manages all I&TS programs and projects from the project pipeline portfolio in alignment with the I&TS business aligned strategy, and has a dynamic mix of personnel, and will look to you for direction that energizes, orients, and engages them to deliver on the portfolio of exciting projects, with a can do, never give up attitude.
