This rare management role at our brand new state-of-the-art facility will see you lead from the front, modelling Icon's core values through effective management and leadership of clinical nursing and support staff at the site.
Reporting to our dedicated and supportive on-site Site Manager, you will be given the opportunity foster a positive work culture within your team, driving change, a safe working environment, and utilising financial resources effectively to achieve optimal clinical outcomes and an exceptional patient experience within a continuous service improvement framework.
The primary purpose of this position is to lead our on-site nursing team to provide high-level clinical direction and guidance; and manage resources effectively to ensure the provision of the highest standard of care to our patients. The Nurse Unit Manager will further liaise with the wider Icon community, such as our nurse education team, quality specialists, and oncology research teams whilst adhering to our national policies/processes to ensure the highest quality patient care and satisfaction.
This role is perfect for an experienced nurse leader with a healthy background in oncology nursing and in particular, Radiation Oncology. Icon has extensive development opportunities with an in-house education team and training programs for clinical and leadership skills to support you.
The role will function in a full-time capacity, working 76 hours per fortnight on a Monday to Friday day-only roster.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, direct and coordinate evidence-based patient centred care and service planning, utilising sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and research
- Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge and skills relating to a relevant field of nursing to provide clinical and professional guidance to the multidisciplinary team
- In collaboration with the site staff assess, plan, implement and evaluate strategies to improve patient satisfaction results, ensuring patient feedback is addressed in a timely and thoughtful manner
- Strive to better understand customer (internal and external) expectations, needs and concerns and seek to address service delivery issues promptly through implementation of effective solutions
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all disciplines, other departments, and the wider professional community
- Efficient and effective management of physical, human, intellectual and financial resources
- Ensure the right level of seniority and skill mix in the team and provide staff with access to appropriate resources and training to maintain strong clinical skills and adhere to the safety/quality standards and within the set budget
- Work in collaboration with the site manager to set and implement the annual unit budget in a manner that ensures all resources (human, financial and physical) are used to deliver safe, high quality clinical care in a cost-effective manner
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, development, supervision, and performance evaluation of nursing team members
- Develop workforce and succession plans and demonstrate a commitment to developing all staff
- Oversee the development and implementation of nursing staff rosters that optimise staff skill mix to ensure the provision of timely, safe, high quality patient care and simultaneously enables training requirements of staff to be met, supported by our clinical education team
- Work collaboratively with other senior members of the site to ensure efficient treatment delivery for patients

Skills & Experience
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Post-graduate nursing/management degree (or working towards) would be well regarded, but not mandatory
- Experience in oncology nursing, ideally in an outpatient and inpatient environment – Radiation Oncology a distinct advantage
- Leadership experience in a nursing environment
