Job description

The Town is seeking a highly motivated and suitably experienced asset management professional in a full time permanent capacity.

Your new role

The Coordinator Strategic Assets will be responsible for planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of the Asset team’s annual service unit objectives, aligned to the long-term strategic objectives of the Town.

Reporting to the Manager Assets and Environment, the position is responsible for informing the most appropriate, effective and efficient use of assets across the Town, to meet community driven outcomes in line with the Strategic Community Plan, and to work cross-functionally in an advisory capacity within the Operations team, and with other parts of the Town’s administration, to develop and integrate sound asset management practices, an asset management policy and appropriate systems.

Some of your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Developing and maintaining Council's Asset Management Policy and Strategy.
  • Preparing and updating Council's suite of Asset Management Plans, including sustainable service levels, life cycle costing, and associated financial projections, and maintenance strategies.
  • Improving the quality, reliability and usability of Council's asset information through active collection, manipulation and presentation of information.
  • Refining and improving the Council's asset condition modelling capability and project prioritisation.
  • Managing the Council's asset register, including structure, attributes, etc.
  • Preparing or assisting in the preparation of appropriate project briefs in accordance with Council requirements and best practice standards.
  • Ensuring Council keeps abreast of contemporary approaches and techniques in asset management.
  • Assisting in the delivery of Council's capital expenditure program.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated capacity to creatively work cross-functionally to achieve service area goals, and service delivery team objectives.
  • Current asset management knowledge including ISO 55000, ISO 55001 and the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.
  • Experience in development of asset management strategies, asset management plans, building management programs, capital works delivery program and data management using the Town’s Asset Management system.
  • Application of well-developed management and transformational leadership skills.
  • Experience in asset management at a senior level.
  • Tertiary qualification in Asset Management, Civil Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
