For several years running, Bass Coast has led the pack for resource recovery in Victoria. We’ve halved emissions from landfill and recover 75% of everything we collect, saving thousands of tonnes of valuable materials every year. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and visionary waste management professional to join our Sustainable Environment Department in the role of Coordinator Waste Services.

Reporting to the Manager Sustainable Environment, this position will play an integral role in delivering Council’s current Waste Services while leading the development of a new strategy to accelerate Bass Coast’s transition to a Circular Economy.

To be successful in this position you will have:

• Significant experience in the operation and management of resource recovery and Waste Services and facilities.
• Sound technical knowledge and understanding of the waste sector, resource recovery and the emerging circular economy.
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience leading small teams, managing complex workflows and customer requests. 
• Demonstrated leadership qualities, including providing expert guidance to decision makers and the broader community.

The role will coordinate a comprehensive suite of Waste Services (delivered directly and under contract) including: kerbside collection; resource recovery centre operations; provision of materials recycling, organics collection and processing; landfill planning, operation and aftercare; public place bins; hard waste collection; litter prevention and waste education functions.
