JOB DESCRIPTION
Help us to achieve our vision of a community free of sexual violence by leading a dedicated team responsible for responding to the needs of victims-survivors in a trauma informed manner.
- Classification – Health Professional Level 1 or 2
- Full-time – Fixed-term for 12 months (as this position is subject to government funding, renewal of funding at the end of the fixed term is not certain)
- 76.0 hours per fortnight (1.0 EFT)
- 60.8 hours per fortnight (0.8 EFT) may be considered
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Counsellor / Advocate Intake and Response is responsible for providing support to victims-survivors who have experienced sexual violence and abuse.
The role of Counsellor / Advocate Intake and Response is to:
- conduct initial Intake And focused safety and support needs assessments
- provide specialist information and practical support and advocacy to victims-survivors
- provide advice and secondary consultation to other professionals and organisations
- assist to oversee demand and waiting list management
- provide crisis care response
ABOUT YOU
You are passionate about belonging to an exceptional team of individuals who share a vision of a community free of sexual assault and family violence.
With a Bachelor’s degree or above qualification in social work, family therapy, art therapy, psychology or similar discipline., you will be able to demonstrate:
- the ability to holistically assess complex client needs,
- well-developed knowledge and understanding of how to navigate complex service systems (including those related to Family Violence, Child Protection, Sexual Assault, Generalist Health, Mental Health, and the criminal and legal systems) with a high level of collaboration, stakeholder engagement and systems thinking
- Specialist knowledge of, and sensitivity to, the issues relating to sexual assault and family violence within a gendered context.
- Knowledge and expertise in working therapeutically within the dynamics and effects of interpersonal trauma across the life course.
- Ability to actively listen, build relationships and communicate sensitively, including the ability to provide a respectful and welcoming service to people of diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
