About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available to join the University of Melbourne as a Country Officer for Malaysia! In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in shaping the future of education by facilitating and attending various events such as education exhibitions, interview programs, seminars, webinars, and school visits across Malaysia. Your role will involve supporting current University representative activities, engaging effectively with prospective students and their families, and showcasing the enriching student experience at the University of Melbourne.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, you'll collaborate closely with our dynamic team and report directly to the Regional Manager for Singapore & Malaysia. This position offers a unique blend of autonomy and teamwork, allowing you to work both independently and alongside colleagues in Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne. Join us in making a meaningful impact in the lives of students and shaping the future of education in Malaysia.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively engage with students, parents, and agents for conversion activities.
  • Support in the management of incoming enquiries from students via emails, phone calls, or the University’s CRM.
  • Support the UoM Malaysia team in student counselling activities.
  • Support the team in data collection and updates for various reporting purposes.

The role will require travel within Malaysia, Singapore, Melbourne, and occasionally to other countries.
Who we are looking for
We are actively seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with exceptional communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills to join our team and spearhead student recruitment efforts in Malaysia. Your proactive nature and strong initiative will serve as invaluable assets as you navigate this pivotal role, ensuring the continued success of our operations. You will demonstrate sound judgment, possess a deep cross-cultural understanding, and uphold a high level of ethics and personal integrity. Leveraging your comprehensive understanding of the Australian education system, you will significantly enhance your effectiveness in this position.

You will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in marketing, international relations, international business, or related field and/or relevant experience and training.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in university counseling or similar roles, engaging with students, parents, and counselors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and data management, including digital CRM systems.
  • Highly self-driven with a proven track record of efficiently managing multiple projects concurrently in fast-paced environments.
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English, with demonstrated experience effectively communicating across various roles.

Your new team – Offshore Office
An integral component of the University of Melbourne’s International strategy has been the development of two-or-three-person offshore offices in countries from which the University draws large numbers of international students. Currently, the University has offices in China (Beijing and Shanghai), India, Singapore, Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), North America, and Indonesia (Jakarta). The offshore office staff are primarily focused on delivering student recruitment plans and is part of the University’s Student Recruitment team within Student and Scholarly Services.
The University’s offshore offices provide high-order representation and engagement for the University in their geographical areas of responsibility. They support the University’s marketing, student recruitment, and admissions functions by disseminating information, co-ordinating communication activities, and providing support to the University’s education representatives; they also support linkages and academic relationships with research, industry, and business institutions; they support alumni relationships, and they provide on the ground assistance to visiting University staff
