The North Coast Region is seeking a highly motivated, driven and passionate Court Liaison Officer to join the region's Student Child and Family Connect team on a permanent full-time basis. As the Court Liaison Officer you will provide specialist expertise in education to support young people involved with the criminal justice system to re-engage with education and training. The Court Liaison Officer reports to the Director, Student Child and Family Connect, North Coast Region, Early Childhood and State Schools Division or delegate.
Based in either Bundaberg, Hervey Bay or Maryborough, as the Court Liaison Officer, you will:
- Provide support to young people involved the youth justice system who are not attending education to training to connect/reconnect with education, training or employment
- Play a key role on multi-agency panels that provide holistic support to young people in contact with the youth justice system
- Collaborate with other government agencies and stakeholders to devise tailored advice and support to young people who appear in court
- Build the capability of staff in schools and the region and within the youth justice and child protection sectors around the systems, policy, processes, responsibilities ad accountabilities relating to young people and the justice and education systems.
Additionally, an understanding of services available through the Department and local communities to assist young people to connect with supports and programs is highly desirable.
