About us

Hugo Law Group is a market leader in the industry, providing exceptional representation to people facing serious criminal charges. With offices in Perth, Sydney, Canberra and Northern NSW, the firm is dedicated to expanding its reach and delivering the highest quality of service to clients across Australia.

About you

The successful applicant must be committed to providing individuals with expert legal representation and place value on providing support, understanding and unbiased compassion to our clients. It goes without saying that you will have a strong work ethic, a proactive approach to all tasks and be capable of engaging with a hardworking but fun, small but growing, close-knit Perth team.

You must also have the following attributes:

  • A genuine passion for criminal law.
  • Sound knowledge of WA criminal law and procedure.
  • Highly developed analytical skills.

  • Provide legal advice, obtain instructions and provide professional legal services to achieve excellent outcomes for our clients.
  • Build a solid working relationship and maintain communication with clients throughout all stages of their matter.
  • Be responsible for a busy Magistrates Court practice consisting of mentions, bail applications, sentence hearings and trials.
  • Want to develop your indictable practice and appear in the District and Supreme Courts for mentions, sentences and, depending on your level of experience, trials.
  • Instruct barristers for more complex matters, when required to do so.
  • Undertake legal research and writing, including preparing written submissions and submissions in appropriate cases.
  • Manage and maintain your client files (billing, file management, etc).

The second available role is suited to someone who loves criminal law however does not, at this stage in their career, wish to be a courtroom advocate. This role will be working directly with our Perth-based Partner and requires the ability to analyse large briefs of evidence and disclosure, giving you the opportunity to be part of a broader defence team working on a number of interesting and legally complex matters.

Benefits

In return for your expertise, enthusiasm and professionalism you will:

  • Be working in a great team environment, both in the Perth office and within the wider firm.
  • Receive ongoing mentorship and training.
  • Have the opportunity to continually progress in your career.
  • Receive a competitive salary package, commensurate with your level of expertise and the role you will undertake, including a mobile phone, CPD training expenses, WA Law Society and Criminal Law Association of WA membership fees and legal practice certification costs.

To apply, please email your CV, together with a cover letter, to *******@hugolawgroup.com.au.

All applications will be dealt with on a strictly confidential basis.
