POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will have oversight and responsibility of the Global Security Crisis Management program and its maintenance. The position will report to the Vice President – Global Security ensuring the American Express Company has effective crisis response strategies and plans in place across our facilities and businesses. It will also ensure that an effective, and fully responsive state of readiness and emergency preparedness is maintained globally as directed by the American Express Management Policy (AEMP 74), which covers Crisis Management and Emergency Response. This position will ensure compliance with AEMP 74 and Global Security Crisis Management standards. In addition, it will provide advisory services and assistance on a global basis to all Crisis Management Organizations and Senior Management, as required.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintenance and administration of the Global Security Crisis Management policy, standards, and guidelines.
  • Coordination of the Global Security Crisis Management Program to include on-going monitoring, assistance, review, and collaboration with Global Security Crisis Response Teams and Crisis Management Teams around the globe.
  • Creation of the Crisis Management Annual Report, which summarizes the previous year’s crisis activity.
  • Maintenance of the Global Security Crisis Management database where all standards, guidelines, and reports are maintained in a shared repository.
  • Maintain and review all Global Security Crisis Management documents and records.
  • Support and assist the Vice President – Crisis Management & Security Services in fulfilling his/her role. In addition, schedule and facilitate meetings with the Crisis Management Leadership Team to discuss Crisis Management status and issues on a regular basis.
  • Develop and facilitate annual planning and review workshops with representatives of all American Express Crisis Management Organizations, as needed.
  • Development and facilitation support for multi-location / multi-region Crisis Simulation training exercises.
  • Development and facilitation of quarterly CRT Planning and Review conference calls with CRT Leaders.
  • Liaison with all key stakeholder groups for joint activities and issues of common concern.
  • Promote and otherwise support the awareness of the Crisis Management Program, support and/or facilitation of continuing education and training programs.
  • Assist in facilitating oversight of the Global Security Emergency Notification System (GSENS) to include coordination of annual tests in markets, facilitating conference calls with internal GS team and with vendor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous job experience is required; candidates should have at least 5 years combined experience in one or more of the following: security management, physical security system design, Crisis Management, emergency response management, and/or people leadership. Professional certification in security management or personal protection is a plus.
  • Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s or other 4-year degree is required. Preferred fields of study include business, criminal justice, and social sciences.
  • Significant multi-tasking ability required to manage a high volume of work projects and processes.
  • Regional and cultural sensitivity with emphasis on diversity required to adjust communication and presentation styles to manage business relationships and expectations, while achieving security goals.
  • Strong Project Management experience.
  • Ability to analyze problems and make appropriate decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to drive large complex programs and solutions using both direct and virtual teams.
  • Experience managing external vendors across broad and complex work engagements.
  • Experience driving the development of audit strategies, performance metrics, and articulating the business value and costs of various audit programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication management skills.
