Your Opportunity
In partnership with the Murchison Family Violence Coordinated Response Service, WA Police, the Department of Communities and other agencies, this position responds to referrals and offers support to families, particularly women & children at high risk, experiencing family violence in Meekatharra and the surrounding communities. We offer crisis accommodation for up to 72 hours to increase safety for our clients.
Based in Meekatharra, the Crisis Support Worker is responsible for risk assessments, intake, safety planning, information sharing, and referrals to external services, informal counselling, advocacy, and detailed case notes.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to referrals from WA Police and medical services to provide support and crisis accommodation to women and their children following a violent incident
  • Provide on-call service and call-out support to families in times of crisis
  • Provide appropriate support including risk assessments, intake, safety planning, referrals, and information provision to respond to the needs of families experiencing violence to increase their safety
  • Advocate and liaise with external agencies on behalf of families including WA Police, courts, Government Depts., and other organisations
  • Adopt a holistic and culturally safe service model that considers the physical, mental, spiritual, cultural, emotional, and social wellbeing of Aboriginal people
  • Participate in interagency meetings and forums to promote the service, share information, and best practice and highlight community needs
Requirements for Success
With a significant background in Community Services and/or Family Domestic Violence and/or Mental Health sectors, you will be confident in your assessment and case management processes. Other requirements include:
  • Associated Diploma with relevant experience or other appropriate qualification/experience
  • Experience working with individuals & families with complex issues and needs
  • Ability to create individualised case plans and undertake collaborative problem solving with families and other services
  • Excellent communications skills (written & verbal) and the ability to adapt your method of communication to the client
  • Experience and knowledge of Aboriginal cultural systems and protocols
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions
