Job duties and responsibilities:
- To monitor and supervise the cultivation, fertilization, watering, harvest, and crop health strategies to get the best production of berries and cucumbers.
- Planning and overseeing the farm and maintenance of infrastructure such as equipment, machinery, and irrigation systems.
- Organizing farming operations and routines, such as collecting, storing, grading, and packaging produce.
- Managing all land preparation, crop planning, planting, growing, irrigating, and harvesting the crops.
- Analysing the best variety for blueberries, raspberries, and cucumbers to be planted, based on the analytic techniques using the data from weather forecasting, marketing demand, budget, and previous productivity results.
- Executing the fertilizer mixtures to fulfill the requirement and deficiency of nutrients.
- To train the new staff like farm hands, pickers, and packers for various activities.
- Identifying parasites, insects, and weeds harmful to the crops, and researching then using chemicals and sprays to control pests, disease and required treatments.
- Maintain the record of the crop log data like spraying withholding period, fertilizer plan and preparing data summaries result to document the crop production findings.
- Explore various marketing channels and procure new buyers to maximize profitability.
- Maintain accurate records of expenses and income to manage financial assets through strategic allocation of funds for operations, growth, and investment, while also optimizing tax liabilities, managing debt and loans for financial stability and growth.
- Ensure maintenance and repairs of the farm facilities, farm building, farm sheds, machinery, equipment and water supply systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Stay informed about the latest farming techniques, technologies, and regulations to optimize crop success and profitability, while maintaining expertise in plant and soil sciences.
- Continuously enhance farm yield through process optimization, labour management, and crop improvement strategies.
- Manage farm inventory of equipment and supplies such as fertilizers and seeds, making informed purchase decisions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for all farm operations.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree OR 5 years of experience in the related field.
- 2 years full time experience working as a farmer.
- Deep Understanding of crop production techniques, soil health, pest, and disease management practices.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Highly motivated and able to work unsupervised.
- Attention to detail.
- Meticulous in crop monitoring, record-keeping, and following protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Good understanding of market trends, pricing strategies, and regulations affecting agriculture.
- Dedication to sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and seasonal demands.
