Base salary:     $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 plus superannuation

Mondoro Pty Ltd atf The Denis Moore Family Trust is a wholly Australian-owned family operated piggery in Dobies Bight via Casino NSW 2470, and we are looking for a qualified and experienced Pig Farmer to join our small team and who is committed to the care of our pigs and the production of high quality, sustainable pork.

About the role

We currently require Pig Farmer who wish to join our operation located at our farm production site at Dobies Bight via Casino NSW 2470. Successful candidates will be paid competitive remuneration under the Pastoral Award 2020.

The role will require you to assist our operations manager with the management, supervision of the piggery and to undertake specified pork breeding and production techniques, methods and control procedures concerned with the operation of the piggery, and to maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workplace for the protection of the health and welfare of employees and piggery livestock at all times.

Responsibilities, tasks & duties include:

• Maintaining a high-quality environment for the welfare and well-being of stock and ensuring Biosecurity requirements are met;
• Production management and supervision;
• Staff supervision and training;
• Quality control and understanding of EliteHerd – preferred but not essential;
• Workplace health & safety;
• Animal welfare;
• Building & equipment;
• Site and services;
• Supervising and participating in the daily inspection of livestock, so that their needs are met, and environmental parameters are filled;
• Tend to routine husbandry of all stock:
• Supervision of data collection and accuracy in recording to aid stock and inventory control;
• Provide overall maintenance and compliance of the Company Quality Assurance Program for the site ensuring that all relevant documentation is kept current;
• Supervise less experienced Stockperson(s);
• Participate in company and industry training sessions and workshops as required.

Skills and experience

Applicants MUST have the following qualifications and recent employment experience:

• Bachelor degree qualification in agriculture, animal science, animal husbandry;
• Minimum 5 years recent experience in medium/large commercial piggery/livestock production enterprise;
• Sound communication and effective time management skills;
• A current driver's licence (preferred);
• A preparedness to work flexible hours (including rostered weekends and public holidays);
• Be physically fit and able to cope with the physical demands of the role, which includes working with animals and manual handling tasks including lifting;
• Have a positive attitude towards working with pigs and animal welfare.

Base salary: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 plus superannuation.
