Job description

Manbulloo

Manbulloo specialises in growing, packing, marketing, and distributing the highest quality mangoes and avocados, with seven farms across NT and Northern Queensland

Manbulloo is proud to deliver the best tasting mangoes to customers within Australia and overseas each year. Manbulloo is keen to create opportunities and provide support for anyone who wants to build their horticultural knowledge, skills and careers.

The role

We are currently seeking a career-minded Crop Monitor to work between our 2 farms at Katherine, NT

Main responsibilities include:

  • Complete weekly monitoring of crop stage, pest, and diseases from the first sign of bud swell until harvest.
  • Record the results for each monitoring event, prepare trend reports and report findings to Farm Managers and the General Manager.
  • Work with farm managers to plan, implement and monitor agronomic practices and pest, disease and weed management.
  • Monitor orchard nutrition by accurately collecting and analyzing soil and leaf samples.
  • Maintain records of test results, agrochemical applications, moisture levels, weather data and other activities
  • Supervise and help with tree-training and other day-to-day field activities including R&D
  • Operate agricultural machinery as needed.
  • Assist with some administrative tasks and IT support as needed.
  • There is also the opportunity to be part of the packhouse management team during mango harvest

There is significant self-management and collaboration involved, so you'll need to take responsibility, show initiative and interact well with people.

You

To be successful in the position you will have a keen interest in horticulture, but we don't expect you to know it all from day one. It is ideally suited to someone who wants to grow their career, perhaps recently qualified and wanting to get stuck in. You will need:

  • Knowledge of pest, disease, and weed management practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, multicultural team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to provide clear recommendations.

Ideally, you can also bring:

  • Experience in Crop Monitoring, preferably with mangoes or other fruit trees is desirable.
  • Experience operating agricultural machinery is an advantage.
  • A degree or certification in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is preferred.

Benefits

This is a permanent full-time role, with unlimited up-skilling and career pathways available. A salary will be negotiated that recognizes your current skills and future potential. If you like a truly rural lifestyle, with all the space and peace of the Australia that most people rarely see, this is the place for it.

As for confidence and job satisfaction, you'll be shown how to do things you are not experienced in, and there is a significant handover period planned.

If you would like to work and build your career in horticulture, especially in the highly skilled field of mangoes, why not learn with Australia's best?

Apply

Just click on the APPLY button, and then add your resume and you can also add a cover letter if you wish. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
