About the role
The Curatorial and Arts Administration Assistant will assist the Curator and Visual Arts Coordinator with the delivery of Council’s curated exhibitions at Art Space on The Concourse, visual arts programming and cultural projects and help to drive the marketing of the Visual Arts programming.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the curation of exhibitions, support administrative tasks, help to steer the facilitation of the external artist program and care take the Willoughby Collection and mind the art spaces during Council curated exhibitions.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in the area of Visual Arts, Arts Administration, Museum or Curatorial Studies, or equivalent appropriate discipline
- Demonstrated experience working in a gallery or visual Arts Administration area
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with initiative to set priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the aptitude to manage a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
- Sound knowledge of word processing, Microsoft Office and computerised database systems
- Some physical strength is required for setting up and packing down of equipment
- Ability to assist with the installation of artworks in both the gallery and public space setting as required
- Capability to plan, prepare and distribute arts marketing materials and upload content to cultural websites and platforms
- Demonstrated experience in handling artworks and collection management principles
