The Custodial Health Service is a Multidisciplinary led unit with Medical Officers, Nurse Practitioners and a Pharmacy department making up the team which provides clinical care to people held in Victoria Police custody across the state. The unit operates 24hour health nursing care at the Melbourne Custody Centre (MCC), advice line and a 7 day a week mobile service. The primary work location is the Melbourne Custody Centre, located in Melbourne.
- Part/Full time ongoing positions.
- Monday to Sunday all shifts including Night Shift and Public Holidays.
- 12 Hour Rotating Roster.
- VPS award including shift penalties (not Nursing Award).
Your duties will include:
- Allocated one of three roles per shift.
Mobile Health Service.
24 Hour Custodial Health Advice Line.
- Comprehensive Nursing Assessments.
- Collecting, maintain and manage health records.
- Attending Metropolitan and Semi-Rural Police Stations to complete nursing assessments.
- Contributing to quality and safety initiatives.
- The ability to complete comprehensive health assessments.
- Advanced Critical Thinking.
- Excellent communication.
- Ability to engage with Multidisciplinary team and key Stakeholders.
- Skills to work independently and autonomously within scope of practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to escalate appropriately.
- The applicant must have a minimum of two years' experience in an acute setting.
- This position is based at Melbourne Custody Centre, 520 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
- This position requires shift work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
