Western Health is seeking motivated, engaging, and compassionate Registered Nurses to provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary Custodial Healthcare team at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), a women’s prison in Melbourne’s West. You will be responsible for patient assessment, treatment, ongoing reviews and emergency response as part of the primary health care service delivery.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
Essential
- Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing qualification or equivalent
- Registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
- Minimum of one year’s full-time or equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse
- Possess excellent clinical skills
- Effective organisational skills, with respect to time management and delegation
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team
- Demonstrated evidence of undertaking professional development activities to maintain and enhance nursing expertise
- A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred patient care
Desirable
- Experience and/or post graduate qualification Experience working in Custodial Health, women’s health, alcohol; and other drugs services, mental health or other relevant specialty

The service
On 1 July, 2023 the delivery of primary healthcare transitioned to Western Health. The multidisciplinary team provides holistic and interconnected service provision to patients at DPFC.
Successful applicants will be provided orientation and training including additional training to support the delivery of culturally appropriate, trauma informed, gender affirming care for all patients.
