Job description

Council’s Customer Service and Information Management teams are confident, energetic and passionate about delivering exceptional customer service to our Community, Customers, Councillors and Council.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated person who is interested in undertaking a 12 month traineeship in Customer Service.

The role will support the Customer Service team to complete administration duties required in this business stream. You will develop skills in customer service through Council’s contact centre and counter teams at the Shellharbour Civic Centre. The role will also provide learning and development opportunities in information management, application processing and business improvement initiatives.


This opportunity is open to both school leavers and mature age applicants who are eligible for admission to the Certificate III in Business Administration and who do not already hold a Certificate III qualification or higher. The traineeship will cover both practical and theoretical requirements supported by TAFE. This role is a temporary 12 month fixed term development entry level role.

  • Temporary full time, 35 hours per week up to 12 months (or the duration of the traineeship)
  • Commencing Salary up to $738.00 per week (Dependent on school level achieved and years out of school)
  • Plus 10.5% superannuation
  • On the job training
  • Compulsory course costs are paid by Council
  • Up to 3 hours of study time per week
