Job description

Cyber Investigator (Trainee)

Yes, this job is as interesting as it sounds and there is no need for previous investigation experience. The role involves a broad range of investigations, and you will spend your days identifying those responsible for committing offences related to romance scams, online defamation, cyberbullying/harassment, doxxing and more.

We're on the search for a Trainee Cyber Investigator who's ready to dive deep into the digital underworld and emerge with actionable intelligence. We invite you to become part of our dynamic yet down-to-earth team, located in Byron Bay, where cutting-edge technology meets investigative expertise and innovation. The right candidate will learn how to become a top tier investigator and will be trained and mentored by some of the industry’s leaders. We strongly believe in finding a balance between professionalism and fostering a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to solve problems and think outside the box.
  • Dedicated to achieving results and have a curiosity for seeking the truth.
  • Excellent writing skills to be able to produce investigation/intelligence reports.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Tech savvy: be able to quickly navigate through webpages, open-source data, and social media platforms.
  • An interest in criminology and human behaviour.
  • Be punctual and friendly, with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work autonomously and also collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Be ready to commit to a long-term position.
  • Be authorised to work in Australia with no restrictions.

We are seeking someone available to commence as soon as possible. Whilst the available work fluctuates based on the level of open investigations, we expect to keep you busy, so you need to be available five days per week.

Please note that it does take time to learn all of the necessary skills to be a proficient Cyber Investigator. We will be investing significant and ongoing training in the right candidate. Therefore, we are only seeking people who are looking for long-term employment.

Please also be aware, that we do not allow remote working. Despite the role being an ‘online’ position, you are required to work from our Byron Bay office. We pride ourselves on our excellent workplace culture and supportive, collaborative team environment.

We encourage you to submit a cover letter with your application to demonstrate your written communication skills.
