Where you'll be workingThe Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) consultation-liaison service is a new, dedicated, multi-disciplinary service providing specialist consultation and liaison for children and young people (0-17) experiencing mental health problems (including co-morbid substance use) and their parents/caregivers, admitted or presenting to Royal North Shore or Hornsby hospital paediatric wards, psychiatric emergency care centres (PECC), and other hospital settings as indicated.
The CYMHS consultation-Liaison Clinical Lead will be based at Royal North Shore and Hornsby Hospitals.

The intention of NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence-based practices and collaboration.
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) consultation-liaison service is a new, dedicated, multi-disciplinary service providing specialist consultation and liaison for children and young people (0-17) experiencing mental health problems (including co-morbid substance use) and their parents/caregivers, admitted or presenting to Royal North Shore or Hornsby hospital paediatric wards, psychiatric emergency care centres (PECC), and other hospital settings as indicated.
The service will provide assessment, in-reach consultation-liaison, short-term evidence-based interventions, and collaborative care planning with children, young people, their parents/caregivers, and other systems of support as appropriate. The service will collaborate with CYMHS, drug and alcohol, and other services to facilitate early intervention, warm handover and engagement for ongoing community treatment as needed.
The service will also provide advice and professional development for medical, nursing, and allied health hospital staff to assist in building capacity in caring for children and young people experiencing mental health and co-morbid substance use difficulties.
The Clinical Lead, in collaboration with the Child &Youth Mental health Service (CYMHS) Service Manager and Consultant, will provide expert clinical and operational leadership and supervision to the CYMHS Consultation-Liaison service. The Clinical Lead may be required to act up into Service Manager's position where indicated and delegated by the Service Manager or Service Director.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
Relevant qualification in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing with current AHPRA registration (for Social Work, eligibility for membership with AASW). For Social Work and Occupational Therapy demonstrated experience as a Level 2 or above. For Psychology, a Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology from an APAC Accredited University. For Nursing - Minimum 5 years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have an approved post graduate qualification Diploma/Certificate or evidence or working towards Masters.
Demonstrated ability to provide Clinical Leadership, service coordination and support to a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in providing assessment, formulation, crisis management, and evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health problems (including co-morbid substance use) their families and caregivers, and the application of systemic intervention principles to collaboration with other stakeholders for ongoing care.
Demonstrated skills and experience in providing clinical consultancy, communication, partnership development and negotiation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated skills and experience in planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical services or programs.
Demonstrated experience with developing and implementing professional development and informal clinical teachings to a range of stakeholders.
