Concentis is partnering with Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) to source a Dam Safety Engineer to join their Engineering Team.
The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority whose purpose is to supply water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Those consumers comprise major industries, power generating organisations, and the Gladstone Regional Council. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants and operates and maintains recreational facilities including a fish fingerling hatchery and associated stocking program.
Their vision is to deliver safe and reliable water services to enhance the liveability of the region.
About the role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Dam Safety Engineer is a key position that is responsible for leading the way in the development and implementation of safety improvement plans, dam surveillance programs and emergency management processes to ensure and enhance Dam Safety.
- Conduct catchment and storage capacity and flood level prediction modelling for Awoonga Dam
- Provide technical input and update the Awoonga Dam Emergency Action Plan to meet regulatory requirements
- Assist in developing asset policies and procedures, strategies, programs, and technical standards and other dam management documentation
- Oversee Dam Safety inspections, audits, safety risk analysis and reports
- provide support for Dam Safety projects, including advising on project strategies, preparing contract documents, evaluating tenders, business cases, engineering reports, developing project scopes and briefs
- Maintain ongoing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain technical specifications for pipe networks, pump stations, treatment plants and dam infrastructure
- Develop, implement and monitor programs for Dam Safety surveillance, and Dam Safety Improvement plans and provide technical input for Life Cycle Management Plans as required
- Provide predictions for drought triggers for GAWB's drought management plan
- Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering (Civil, or similar) are essential
- Substantial knowledge and proven experience within construction, Dam Safety, water supply and dam engineering
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying legislation and engineering codes relevant to Dam Safety
- Strong communication skills and ability to establish rapport with stakeholders
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
