The Opportunity
We are on the lookout for a Process Safety Engineer to support Process Safety and risk management for our client's operations. You will be leading and developing Bowties, conducting risk assessments and analysis, monitoring operational exceedances, providing actions and improvements, and coaching personnel within the Process Safety team. This is a site-based role that requires an international FIFO roster for an initial 3-6 months contract in which flights, accommodation, and meals are provided. The successful candidate will have a hands-on and can-do approach and proven on-site experience in a mining environment. Applications from different states are welcome.
What the role entails:
- Conducting risk assessments and consequence analysis.
- Offering expert technical safety guidance to project groups, emphasising safety in design.
- Leading global hazard Risk Analysis workshops, including Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Collaborating with various disciplines to resolve Process Safety matters.
- Evaluating and approving Management of Change Notifications
- Assisting in making risk-based decisions for the site operations.
- Contributing to Functional Safety Studies/Projects with a worldwide perspective.
- Demonstration of an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
- Lead by example by providing visible and credible direction to achieve a safe and achievement-oriented approach to work.
- Tertiary qualification in Process or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a mining, processing plant or refinery environment.
- A solid understanding of the principles of safety & risk engineering.
- Familiarity with international safety regulations and relevant industry codes/standards.
- Exceptional report writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to successfully develop working relationships across all levels
