This new opportunity will work with the Department of Environment, Science, and Innovation, partners and with other Traditional Owner Groups in the Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger Program. This role will operate within RAMSAR sites, protected areas, the Darumbal TUMRA region etc, and engaged in community events such as the Qld Indigenous Rangers Conference, Southern Plan of Management, NAIDOC, and the BROLGA Junior Ranger Program etc.
Position Requirements:
- Respectful and demonstrated ability to work on country for long periods of time and in remote and isolated areas.
- Possess a minimum Cert III Conservation Ecosystem Management or similar.
- High work ethic and sound interpersonal and communication skills.
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability.
- Demonstrated experience working within an Indigenous land and or sea country management team.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people, particularly with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and adapt to different work environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of quality improvement processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in contemporary Human Resource Management practices including Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Anti-Discrimination.
Practical Requirements.
- Possess a minimum Provisional Driver’s Licence – essential.
- Current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply on successful appointment.
- Current Queensland White Card (Construction industry) or willingness to apply on successful appointment.
- Satisfactory Police Check.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with people.
- Demonstrate your personal track record and your knowledge in land and sea country management in implementing projects.
- Demonstrate ways that you introduced innovative techniques to improve on-ground efforts and generate cost-saving and time-efficient activities.
- Explain how your personal qualities and traits have assisted in the development and retention of (peer) staff aimed at promoting a Company’s specific culture or values.
- Demonstrate your experience in land and or sea country management combined with your operational skills involving computer technologies and machinery operations.
- Demonstrate your experience in communications with stakeholders to the benefit of your employer.
- Provide examples of your experiences in reporting land and or sea country management activities and your understandings of data management.
