Data Analyst - Energy Sector

Our client is a leading Australian electricity retailer that is focused on accelerating Australia progression to 100% renewable energy.

They are transforming the way Australian businesses buy their electricity. They have set out to find new and better ways to bring their customers’ energy costs down and put the power back into business’ hands.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Managing of incoming analysis queries;
• Extracting data from different sources;
• Analysing and interpreting large datasets to support C&I customer Proposals;
• Supporting in providing the right solutions to the customers through analysis of their historical consumption patterns;
• Being in regular contact with Account Managers and Sales staff;
• Being up to date with changes in the energy market including forward and spot price movements, supply/demand fundamentals, network tariffs, regulations;
• Developing actionable insights, reports and proposals to communicate to stakeholders in a precise and compelling manner;
• Liaising effectively with internal stakeholders (i.e. Business Development Managers, Sales staff, Operations team, Finance team) as required;
• Leveraging of feedback provided by internal stakeholders to develop new reports and tools;
• Working with the team on continuous improvement process and reporting outputs.

About you:

• Tertiary qualification in relevant field (e.g. Finance, Engineering, Economics, Business or Mathematics);
• Previous experience with C&I energy users is preferable;
• Understanding of wholesale energy markets is highly regarded;
• Advanced Microsoft Office particularly Excel;
• Analytical mindset and results orientated;
• Strong organisational and time management skills;
• Collaborative approach and experience in working efficiently within cross-functional teams;
• Flexible, with a proactive attitude.
