About the Opportunity
As part of Information Management Team the Data Engineer will develop and support Council’s data analysis platform (DAP).
The role will identify and analyse business requirements to provide the most effective and efficient technical solutions while ensuring the implementation of data analysis/design policies are adhered to in the DAP and associated operational frameworks.
The Data Engineer proactively support the design, implementation and review of broader DAP, including the support for planning priorities, projects and plans, and provides continuous improvement of existing practices and procedures as well as new opportunities for enhancing business intelligence tools and resources.
Some of the exciting projects we’re currently working on are:
- Extending the capability of the DAP
- Bringing data from Council’s Enterprise systems into DAP
- Analysing data from IOT and other sensors
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A high degree of computer literacy and experience utilising a range of IT and business intelligence products, such as Power BI/other BI tool, reporting software, MS Office, advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrable experience undertaking data analysis, data governance and data cleansing.
- Significant experience in developing and using DAX and Power Query in Power BI desktop.
- Extensive experience in using advance level calculations on data set.
- Able to implement role-based security on data and have an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI.
- Able to develop complex multi-dimensional Power BI data models by leveraging multiple data sources.
- Proficient knowledge Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Synapes to develop automated data pipelines used in data warehouse and data flows.
- Knowledge of researching business requirements, analysis, process mapping techniques, facilitation, influencing and negotiation.
- Demonstrated experience with planning, prioritisation, scheduling and/or rostering resource allocation and evaluation of projects and programs.
