About the Role
As a Data Scientist, your purpose is to contribute to the development of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) within ANZ’s Finance Systems – Business Intelligence and Insights team. Leveraging the wealth of financial management and customer profitability data within the Finance Systems space, your role is to use this data to help deliver innovative and forward-thinking insights and reporting.
Working with a Lead Data Scientist. the role will contribute to the development, and implementation of advanced analytical models, algorithms, and AI solutions. It requires the application machine learning, predictive analytics, and other advanced techniques to extract insights and drive decision-making.

What will your day look like?
- Contributing to the development and implementation of advanced analytical models, algorithms, data mining, statistical methods, and machine learning techniques to solve complex business problems and generate actionable insights.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize opportunities for leveraging financial and customer profitability data. Explore data sources and develop strategies for data modelling and integration.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and validity of analytical models and solutions through rigorous testing, validation, and documentation processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, and Data, to integrate advanced analytics solutions into business processes and systems. Partner with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and requirements.
- Be part of a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Experiment, learn, and knowledge sharing to stay at the forefront of analytics trends and best practices.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Knowledge in data engineering and analysis (SQL in particular)
Interest in machine learning (such as Python - Java - JavaScript - C/C++ - Hadoop - PySpark) and emerging AI
Statistical modelling/algorithms (Predictive AI)
Interest inf Natural Language Processing
Possess good quantitative and analytical skills using data exploratory techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
Ability to work with large data sets that may be disparate and challenging.
Ability to synthesise multiple sources of information to make sound decisions keeping the customer at the heart of all decisions
Good communication skills.
Delivery focus experience and able to coordinate many moving parts to deliver an outcome
Reporting and data presentation skills and techniques (Tableau - Advanced Excel - Oracle BI Tools)
Programming: Python - Java - JavaScript - C/C++ - Hadoop - PySpark
