Your role will involve working with business stakeholders to understand the business' strategy, objectives, and customer pain points, helping to identify opportunities for change.You should have a developing understanding of the business fundamentals, be naturally curious, and motivated to solve problems. Comfort in dealing with ambiguity, adapting to a fast-paced environment, and shifting priorities is important. A proactive, 'can-do' attitude is essential, with a focus on practical solutions over academic perfection.Responsibilities
- Model Development and Support: Assist in developing and improving data models using machine learning and statistical techniques to address business challenges and generate insights.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Perform data analysis using various data sources, and interpret results to identify trends, patterns, and relationships. Help provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Work with other Data Scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders. Contribute to knowledge sharing within the Centre of Excellence and engage in continuous learning and improvement.
- Business Problem Solving and Analysis: Engage in understanding the challenges and requirements of business stakeholders, providing support in analysing and solving these problems. This involves translating business issues into analytical questions and participating in the development of data-driven solutions, combining analytical rigour with practical problem-solving skills.
- Documentation and Presentation: Assist in documenting methodologies, code, and analysis results. Help present the findings in an understandable manner to a range of stakeholders.
- Foundational Machine Learning and Statistical Modelling: Experience in basic machine learning models and statistical techniques, such as linear regression, clustering, etc.
- Programming and Data Manipulation: Familiarity with programming languages like Python or R, and basic experience in data manipulation using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and data visualisation tools.
- Exposure to Big Data Technologies: Some experience or academic knowledge in big data technologies like Apache Spark, Hadoop, and proficient SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
- Cloud Computing Familiarity: Some exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and a willingness to learn more about cloud-based data science tools and services.
- Analytical Mindset and Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to apply data science to business projects, with an analytical mindset and creative problem-solving skills.
