About the Role
The Data Specialist will assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of the environmental temporal database (Monitor Pro), 2D GIS database (QGIS, PostGIS, PostgreSQL), drilling database (Datashed), and image database (Imago).
Key responsibilities include:
- Extract and collate historical data for upload to relevant database solution.
- Routine importing of ongoing data including QAQC of data from multiple sources.
- Setting up and monitoring field data collection procedures.
- Setting up and monitoring automated processes as required.
- Validating temporal and geological data and editing as required.
- Ensure timely data entry from multiple remote sites by regularly monitoring data collection schedules.
- Data preparation, export, and delivery to multiple users including annual and statutory reporting.
- Ad-hoc SQL database queries and modifications.
- Site visits to assist staff with data management processes.
- Working with Deep Yellow’s policies for data collection and management.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A strong background in geology or another geoscience.
- Proficiency in SQL including SQL database management experience such as:
- SQL server or PostgreSQL data management systems.
- Datashed, GeoBank, or other proprietary geological databases.
- Monitor Pro or other proprietary environmental temporal databases.
- Other geoscience databases.
- GIS software and data management tools such as:
- QGIS, ARCGIS, Mapinfo.
- And related field applications such Mergin Maps, QField.
- PostGIS.
- Other geoscience applications including 3D software, image cataloguing.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Ability to travel to site occasionally, including internationally, as required.
The preferred applicants will be required to possess the rights to work in Australia and a recent National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain one). Flexible working conditions will be considered for the right candidate.
