GYROstream is the leading Australian-owned music distribution and artist services company based in Brisbane. The team is looking for an analytical and data whiz with exceptional attention to detail to join the Royalties and Copyright team.
The Royalties and Copyright Support Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive support across various music distribution functions including customer support, copyright infringement administration, artificial streaming support, data and royalties management. The role demands a high level of organisation, attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments to ensure smooth operations.
The role requires the ability to understand, analyse and manipulate data via Excel, Google Sheets, Appsheets, and Business Intelligence (data dashboards) tools to support the department in providing the highest levels of customer support to GYROstream artists and labels.
Copyright & Artificial Streaming Support
You will work with the Senior Manager of Royalties and Copyright to identify and enforce GYROstream terms of service with respect of copyright infringement and artificial streaming. By providing exceptional customer support you will help resolve ownership disputes, DMCA claims, and other legal issues related to copyright and intellectual property.
- Execute the flow of day-to-day operations, prioritise workload, and handle customer support tickets related to potential copyright issues with artists and labels.
- Process DMCA, store, and internal copyright claims as is required by law and/or GYROstream policy.
- Respond to basic questions about copyright/IP from artists and customers.
- Work cross-functionally to resolve copyright and ownership disputes.
- Communicate with digital service providers (DSPs) to facilitate requests for release takedown due to Copyright claims, and communicate with artists on such claims.
- Support for administration of artificial streaming
Royalties Support
You will assist in the customer support and preparation of the monthly royalting reports for processing and payment to artist accounts. This can include;
- Providing premium customer support to royalty related artist queries, including investigating issues pertaining to royalty payments
- Assisting with invoicing for DSP royalty payments and chasing outstanding payments.
- Investigating failed transfers and transactions with our payment providers
- Assist in the processing and scheduling of monthly royalty payments via company data tools.
About You
A confident, enthusiastic and results-driven person who thrives on getting the details right and using good processes. You will be required to learn all necessary internal and external systems and tools employed in the business, and keep up to date on DSP Copyright Terms and Royalties related to the delivery of music content.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieve an in-depth understanding of music distribution processes, workflows and tools to provide accurate, timely and up-to-date support to all GYROstream / DistroDirect artists and customers.
- Work autonomously on predetermined weekly administrative tasks to support the artificial streaming, copyright and royalties team. These may change at any time.
- Report any suspicious or potentially infringing upload activity, or potential fraudulent streaming that may be identified during any of these tasks.
- Assist with other data projects as required by the Manager
- Stay up to date on emerging trends in our industries through following websites, blogs, daily/weekly newsletters.
- Ensure accuracy and attention to detail when setting up releases and/or making changes to releases - ensure consistency across all systems
- Maintain positive relations and liaise with other music industry organizations as required
- Maximise upsell of all GYROstream products including but not limited to PR, digital marketing, playlist pitching, sync.
- Improve existing processes and consider how you as an individual can use software and business processes to create more efficient workflows for the team.

- Solid experience with spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets and Excel

- Confidence in communicating with your team and manager.
