Database Geologist

We are seeking a talented and experienced Database Geologist to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview:

As a Database Geologist, you will play a critical role in managing and analysing geological data to support exploration and production activities. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining databases, conducting data quality assessments, and implementing data management best practices. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the interpretation of data to facilitate informed decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain geological databases to store, organise, and manage various types of drilling data (Surface, RC, AC, Diamond core samples, and geochemical analyses.
• Implement data quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geophysical, engineering, and environmental datasets for comprehensive analysis.
• Perform data analysis and develop visualisation displays to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in geological data, and generate meaningful insights to support client’s exploration and production activities.
• Support geologists and engineers in the interpretation of geological data to identify targets, evaluate deposit characteristics, and optimise designs 
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on database management best practices, data standards, and software tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of geological data management processes.
• Stay current with advancements in geological database technologies, data management techniques, and industry trends to continuously improve data workflows and methodologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in geological database management and data analysis within the energy, mining, or environmental sectors.
• Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret complex geological datasets.
• Familiarity with geological modelling software (e.g. Leapfrog, Micromine) and integration of databases.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining data integrity and quality.
