Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of machinery and equipment used in meat processing, such as conveyors, slicers, grinders, packaging machines, refrigeration units, and hydraulic systems.
- Breakdown Support: Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and restore production.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, identify potential issues, and carry out preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment condition, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other designated tools.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working on machinery, including lockout/tagout procedures, PPE usage, and equipment guarding.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other maintenance personnel, production supervisors, and external contractors/vendors to optimize maintenance schedules and ensure effective communication and teamwork.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and equipment enhancements, propose improvements, and actively participate in initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and safety
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant Experience: Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter, preferably in a meat processing or food manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gears, and motors.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical issues in industrial equipment.
- Welding and Fabrication Skills: Basic welding and fabrication skills to carry out minor repairs or modifications to equipment.
- Safety Awareness: In-depth understanding of safety procedures and regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and document maintenance activities.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, to support production requirements and respond to emergencies.
