Responsibilities include deckhand duties on the main Great Adventures vessels; Reef King, Reef Spirit and Ocean Spirit and the operation of coral viewing craft in which the delivery of reef interpretive commentaries is essential.
Duties include:
- Assisting with sea navigation of the vessel as directed by the Master;
- A high level of attention to the provision of customer service to passengers;
- Competent rope handling and ensuring ships lines and mooring equipment are maintained and in good working order;
- Competent assistance with the docking of vessels;
- Ensure the general cleanliness of the vessel in area of responsibility;
- Assist Master, Mates and Senior Cruise Attendant to carry out their roles with utmost efficiency;
- Take part in safety drill demonstrations for passengers plus undertake public relations with passengers and ensuring participation in the public farewell procedures;
- Will be required to operate the Glass Bottom Boats and Semi-subs, including completing all required ships log books and delivery of informative and entertaining interpretive commentaries;
- Have a solid working knowledge of safety procedures including but not limited to Abandon Ship Procedures, Fire Fighting Procedures and Man Overboard Rescue routines.
Requirements:
- Current Coxswain (NC1) Certificate (Essential)
- Current RSA (Essential)
- Current Provide First Aid and CPR (Essential)
Prior experience in the Marine Tourism Industry and knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef would be an advantage.
