Due to the nature of the position being required to potentially relief at short notice, preference will be given to candidates who reside within two hours of the operation or are willing to relocate at their own expense.

What You Will Do
Reporting to the Port Manager and the Tug Master onboard the vessel, this position offers you the opportunity to perform deck and general-purpose duties relating to towage on our vessels in the port. Your key responsibilities in this position will include:
- General maintenance of vessels, equipment, firefighting and environmental protection equipment and relevant store-based facilities
- Handling of stores and equipment
- Compliance with policies and procedures authorised by Svitzer and consistent with statutory obligations including quality assurance and ISM procedures
- Ensuring day to day compliance with relevant environmental regulations
- Participating in operational improvement exercises as required and liaise with Svitzer management regarding the improvement of operational procedures
What You Will Need To Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
- A minimum Master <24mNear Coastal Certificate of Competency or higher.
- Current statements of attainment in Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) validity) and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009)
- A current AMSA Medical applicable to your Certificate of Competency
- A valid MSIC or ‘Job Ready’ MSIC Application (or proof of ability to obtain)
- A keen interest in the towage industry and willingness to develop your skills
- Motivation towards safe workplace practices and compliance
- Ability to work as part of a team and build excellent working relationships with external customers
- Ability to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situations
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
- Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Forklift High Risk License
