As a Deli / Kitchen Team Member you'll cook BBQ Chickens and other items for the Hot Food display from 6.30am - 2pm. You may also need to provide attentive service to deli customers, fulfilling their requests for fresh meat, poultry and fish; cold meats and smallgoods; salads and antipasto; ready to eat meals and pastries. You'll keep displays fresh, beautiful and full, make product recommendations and offer tasters.
This role is initially part-time, with the possible opportunity to become full-time a little later. Previous experience working in a deli is desirable, but not essential.
You will need:
- A friendly attitude and good communication skills, to provide the attentive customer service Hill Street is known for.
- To be comfortable handling meat and seafood (both cooked and uncooked)
- A love of working with people (both colleagues and customers)
- Energy, initiative and willingness to take direction.
- The ability to follow company procedures and regulations, particularly regarding food handling and workplace health and safety.
- Ongoing daytime availability on at least 3-4 days per week and every second weekend. Your standard roster will be agreed based on your availability and our operational requirements, with flexibility to suit your needs.
- Physical fitness for lifting and standing.

Pay rates are set by the General Retail Industry Award. The 2023-24 base hourly pay rates for level 1 adults are:
Full time & Part Time
- Weekdays $24.73
- Saturday $30.91
- Sunday $37.10
Casual
- Weekdays $30.91
- Saturday $37.10
- Sunday $43.28
Additional penalty rates apply to public holidays and some overtime and early morning shifts.
