About you:
You are a qualified Dental Hygienist who demonstrates a competent level of knowledge of disease processes, including expertise and skill in the provision of quality dental hygiene services and Oral health promotion. You have the ability to participate in a multidisciplinary clinical team and to support and respect the needs of patients and other team members. maintaining relationships with patients, colleagues and stakeholders and applying effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills. You are committed to maintaining a knowledge of the profession and the role using this knowledge to work according to best practice, demonstrating competent knowledge and skill to provide information to patients and colleagues.
Your opportunity:
Contribute to the provision of a high standard of Oral health care to all eligible clients of the Cairns and Hinterland Oral Health Services through the delivery of dental hygiene services working within a multidisciplinary team.
Your role:
- Deliver quality dental hygiene services and Oral health promotion to clients in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards within a hospital, fixed or mobile Oral health clinic, or a community outreach setting.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary team to provide and deliver routine clinical dental hygiene services within defined scope of clinical practice and to contribute to local quality and service improvement activities.
- Provide services commensurate with level of experience, appropriately referring patients for management of conditions outside scope of defined clinical practice or level of clinical experience.
- Apply increasingly independent clinical judgement as experience builds, to more complex clinical decision making under the clinical practice supervision and professional guidance of a more experienced clinician.
- Provide clinical education and advice for students with the support of a more experienced clinician, including guidance, peer support and instruction on matters pertaining to routine clinical matters to less experienced practitioners.
