The Motor Accidents Insurance Board (MAIB) is a Tasmanian Government Business Enterprise which operates Tasmania's personal injury motor accident insurance scheme. The MAIB support people recovering from, or living with injuries which result from motor accidents by providing benefits, rehabilitation, lifetime support and common law rights.
MAIB is seeking a Deputy Chief Financial Officer to lead their finance department and contribute to achieving their strategic objectives. As the Deputy CFO, you'll play a crucial role in overseeing accounting, taxation operations, and internal management reporting systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual financial statements, monthly internal reports, and financial reports to Government.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax legislation, and government reporting requirements.
- Provide strategic financial advice to senior management, Executive, and Board of Directors.
- Manage financial forecasting, projection models, and key performance data for strategic planning.
- Collaborate with external actuaries on premium pricing and claims valuation processes.
- Assist in managing MAIB's investment portfolio and maintaining related policies and procedures.
- Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance. CA/CPA qualified.
- Previous leadership experience in a senior finance/accounting role is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to ensure compliance with statutory reporting and taxation requirements.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership abilities with a focus on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
