Job description

Mackay State High School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Deputy Principal to join their Executive Leadership Team on a temporary full-time basis, from 15 April 2024 to 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.

As the Deputy Principal, you will play a pivotal role in driving the school's strategic vision, aligned with the department's Equity and Excellence: Realising the Potential for Every Student strategy.

This position demands a visionary leader with exceptional strategic and relational skills, a solutions-focused mindset, and a passion for student and staff wellbeing and performance.

About the Role

As the Deputy Principal, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the implementation of the school's strategic plan, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.
  • Lead staff, across the school and within project teams, to meet Annual Implementation Plan objectives.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills to engage stakeholders and drive positive change.
  • Employ effective case management strategies to support student success, holding regular stakeholder meetings to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Manage a variety of strategic portfolios, overseeing initiatives aimed at enhancing student engagement and achievement.
  • Foster a supportive school environment focused on student and staff wellbeing and performance, utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
  • Champion Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) or multi-tiered systems of support for students, promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.
