About Design and Projects
The Design and Projects department is responsible for the delivery of Council’s major capital works, which include buildings and civil infrastructure. Joining our team means working in a progressive City Council within a region on the rise. Penrith is expected to receive significant growth and investment in the next 20 years, and this position will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work alongside a team of professionals responsible for achieving quality outcomes for architecture, landscape architecture, civil Design and project management.
About the role
We are seeking an expert to head up our Design and Projects team to provide effective leadership, direction and coordination of the design disciplines and capital works delivery from conception through to operational handover. You will be responsible for managing a team of talented and dedicated industry professionals, while fostering productivity, efficiency and continuous improvement.
Essential criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Building, Civil Engineering, Project Management or related disciplines.
Demonstrated experience managing a multi-disciplinary team.
Extensive experience in leading the development and implementation of major infrastructure projects as per the Project Management Office (PMO framework).
Ability to understand high level technical, contractual and commercial issues.
Demonstrated experience in achieving commercial outcomes related to the design, construction and delivery of key facilities, commercial or community property assets.
Demonstrated experience in financial management (infrastructure), budgetary and contracts administration.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate, explain and make recommendations to key stakeholders, including SMEs, contractors, senior management and Council.
Sound knowledge of EEO, current WHS policies and regulations and Corporate Governance requirements including PCBU sites.
Desirable criteria
Experience in Local Government, the public sector or a large, diverse organisation
Knowledge of relevant provisions of the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and other legislation relating to infrastructure planning.
Remuneration Package: An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated based on the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred candidate. Access to a Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
This position requires the worker to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 or to hold a medical contraindication certificate.
