AddressJoin a local government organisation in Melbourne's west in this Design Engineer contracted position. Initially a two-month role, this role will focus on the area of Civil Engineering Design and other disciplines.
The day-to-day responsibilities will include;
- Developing computer-generated design plans for Council’s capital works program, including road construction, drainage, traffic treatments, parking, footpaths, parks, and sporting facilities, adhering to Council policy, engineering standards, and codes of practice.
- Project managing design projects, ensuring all necessary approvals and consultations are completed.
- Preparing engineering computations, estimates, and contract specifications for infrastructure projects in compliance with Council policy and engineering standards.
- Arranging, coordinating, and reviewing geotechnical investigations and engineering surveys for assigned projects to ensure timely completion and progress of design work.
- Managing consultants engaged in civil design projects, including procurement, evaluation, and contract administration, following Council’s Procurement Policy.
- Responding promptly and effectively to customer inquiries and requests, meeting the performance standards outlined in the Customer Service Charter.
- Investigating customer requests such as drainage and storm water flooding issues, developing and implementing solutions that align with industry best practices, Council policy, and budgetary constraints, ensuring a proactive and responsive approach to community needs.
- Providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful you will have;
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in civil design and project management.
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and Council policies.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
