Appointment Pool

The Publications and Communication team is seeking to establish a twelve (12) month pool of Desktop Publishers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2024 and up to the end of May, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2024, up to the end of May, 2025

The School Curriculum and Standards Division (the Division) provides administrative and secretariat services for, and implements the decisions of, the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). The Authority provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students, and students in international schools delivering the Western Australian curriculum, to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.

The Desktop Publishers appointed from the pool will contribute excellent desktop publishing skills to the development of materials for print and online publication. Strong communication and negotiation skills will be an asset when collaborating with teams across the Division. Suitable applicants will ideally have an excellent eye for detail and a creative approach to the design and development of materials will be beneficial.

Desktop Publishers in the Division undertake desktop publishing of print and online materials using advanced desktop publishing software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, in particular InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and other software to produce high quality master copies from draft copies. Suitable applicants appointed will communicate and negotiate with a team of writers and editors to refine draft materials and resolve issues associated with producing a broad range of materials and provide technical desktop publishing support to writers and editors.

Desktop Publishers in the Division continuously monitor work for instructions and feedback throughout the desktop publishing process, making modifications where necessary to improve output, decrease turn-around times and streamline work processes and operations.

Applicants selected for interview will complete a short practical exercise as part of the interview process.
