Two divisions - Santos Energy Solutions and Santos Upstream Gas and Liquids - are accountable for global portfolio management and strategy.About the RoleA fantastic opportunity to join the Santos team as a Development Lead. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role where in-depth knowledge of process for Development projects would be highly sought after. Familiarity with Santos QLD and NSW Assets would be preferred but not essential.Based out of our Brisbane office, this position reports to the Development Manager and will be responsible for delivering strategic progression of projects through the Santos Management System and assurance and securing capital funding to deliver the asset programs.As the Development lead you will work collaboratively across various levels of the business with the ability to both develop and maintain strong relationships while influencing key stakeholders in order to achieve outcomes and ensure delivery outcomes align with business objectives.The role is Brisbane based but is likely to require some travel to site on an ad hoc or quarterly basis.Key accountabilities include:
- Working with Reservoir and Field Development Teams to frame upcoming and future projects and oversee Assess and Concept Select gates with inputs from Pre Development Leads and Engineering support from the Execution teams.
- Co-ordinate inputs and key deliverables to deliver the Project Frame, Project Plan, and Project Execution Plan, delivering the evolution of detail to support the SMS workflows through Definition and Sanction gates.
- Key Area of responsibility contact for the Predevelopment Leads, Execution team Leads, Engineering Leads and key stakeholders for projects in their delegated Area of responsibility, including leading and attending relevant meetings
- Drive value in the program through ensuring accurate project budgets are established, with complete scope and opportunities identified and implemented. Oversees budget in line with company requirements and support execution teams to deliver on sanctioned scope, budget and schedules. Act as key point of contact for any items impacting ability of execution teams to deliver to sanction promises
- Be the key contact for continuity in gate review sessions, taking accountability for presentation material, co-ordination of close out actions and liaising with assurance team to get the best outcomes for the business.
- Draft Key funding and approval documents (CEO papers and briefings, Board papers, project Closeout reports) and lead reviews with key management review and input.
- Oversee key decision sheets to help ensure the projects in the program are robust and key governance mechanisms are auditable and traceable.
- Lead risk reviews, managing the risk register for the project.
- Key development interface for Operations and Operations support in relation to development interface for Area of responsibility with projects - eg. camps, roads, upcoming maintenance activities etc
- Manage delivery of projects against project cost and schedule commitments from Concept to Close out in accordance with SMS and business objectives as delegated by the Development Manager
- Resolution and management of complex cases and technical issues between execution teams and the respective business functions
- Work with key Exploration and Appraisal interfaces to achieve line of sight across their Area of responsibility and any shared resources.
- Contribute to Asset and Hopper Meetings - talking to full development lifecycle for Area of responsibility.
- Support with Opcom/JV/Excom reporting and questions. Support the DM in engagement with key stakeholders
- Provide monthly progress reporting on projects and track delivery to key gates.
- Lead and influence decision making to get the best result for the business, with a low cost, production-based mindset
- Coach and develop the team to optimise performance and commitment.
- Lead team change initiatives to optimize business performance and/or ensure a smooth transition.
- Manage and empower employees to implement the business strategy and ensure role accountabilities are clearly communicated and understood.
- Summarise and escalate issues to the DM and VP as required.
- Minimum 5 years project engineering/management experience in oil and gas
- Ability to work collaboratively across various levels of the business
- Ability to influence to achieve outcomes and ensure delivery from multiple stakeholders
- Detailed knowledge of the end-to-end business process for Development type projects
- Familiarity with Santos' QLD and NSW Assets and CSG industry broad
- Delivers scope development and management, develops, and manages project budgets, schedules, and timelines
- Conveys information to all key stakeholders in both written and verbal formats
- Ability to develop scenarios and make recommendations based on facts, circumstances, and STO needs
- Developing leadership and team management skills

- Tertiary engineering qualification or equivalent relevant experience
