The Position: Ongoing, Part-Time 40.0 hours per fortnight
In this role at BRHS you will perform individual health assessments, monitoring and education as well as facilitating health education to schools and community groups on a variety of issues pertaining to diabetes management. This position is responsible for aiding people to become informed of issues affecting their health, enabling them to accept and share responsibility in recognising their own health needs and make choices that are relevant/appropriate to their life situation. The role requires flexibility to provide outreach services as required.
The Department:
The Community Health Service provides a multidisciplinary team approach to enhancing the health and wellbeing of the community. Individuals and groups are encouraged and supported to make healthy lifestyle choices through education, information and targeted health promotion activities.
The ideal applicant will demonstrate:
- A Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current AHPRA registration
- Advanced knowledge of diabetes management with the ability to deliver effective client education to individuals and groups.
- An understanding of issues confronting clients in the community, particularly clients with diverse cultural backgrounds
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients with low health literacy skills and with a range of health professionals.
