Job Description
About the Role
GEC are seeking a Diesel Fitter/Mechanic to perform various maintenance tasks as part of our site-operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a range of heavy equipment across the relevant construction project. Reporting to the Head Diesel Fitter/Mechanic, this position will be based in the Cooper Basin on the Santos Project, working a FIFO rotational roster (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster).
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting diagnostics, fault-finding, scheduled and preventative maintenance and repairs on a range of heavy mobile equipment (excavators, graders, loaders, trucks, and LV’s);
Liaising with OEM’s regarding maintenance enquiries and ordering spare parts;
Working closely with the Head Diesel Fitter/Mechanic for general support and maintenance forecasting;
Utilising and conducting entry on The Fleet Office (TFO) fleet management software; and
Working closely with Operations Support and Logistics teams.
Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you must hold the following skills and qualifications:
Trade Certificate in Diesel Fitting/Mechanical Trade (Heavy Vehicles) or similar
Refrigerant Handling Licence (desired)
Current MR or HR Driver’s Licence
Demonstrated experience and sound understanding of general machine maintenance & servicing
Previous experience operating industry plant & equipment
Understanding of plant and equipment capabilities in line with Manufacturers Specifications
Understanding of Safe Work practices
Experience within the Oil & Gas industry (desired)
The ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team
Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and set priorities effectively
