Toowoomba Transit Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of Pulitano Invesments Pty Ltd) specialises in providing School, Urban, and Charter bus services in the Toowoomba and surrounding areas. We are currently seeking a Workshop trade qualified heavy vehicle mechanic to join our Toowoomba maintenance team.

About the role
Reporting to the Workshop Manager your main focus will be maintenance and repair of the bus fleet, compliance with maintenance processes and use of workshop data base.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Ensure workshop plant/equipment is maintained in good order while applying best practice housekeeping at all times;
- Maintain a safe workshop area;
- Ensure parts and equipment usage is accurately recorded in accordance with stock control policy;
- Availability for after-hours call out;
- Undertake day to day bus repair and maintenance activities to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
- Fulfil vehicle preventative maintenance schedules and requirements.
- Abide by the requirements in the Management Information System and Maintenance Management System
- Carry out repairs and maintenance as per the Manufacturer’s specifications, National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual and any applicable legislation or vehicle standards
- Maintain vehicle monitoring and reporting systems as required by relevant authorities and operator
- Respond to, investigate and repair vehicle defects as notified through the ERP
- Report and record all defects on buses
- Maintain a safe workshop area.
- Work in accordance with safe working procedures and instructions and comply with the accredited bus operator’s Management Information System.
- Not be impaired by alcohol or drugs immediately before, or while, performing bus safety work.
- Report all health issues or other issues that may affect their fitness to work.
- Follow policies, procedures and safety instructions.
- Wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as issued by the operator or pertinent to the job.
- Participate in training and staff meetings as required.

Qualifications and experience
- Minimum of Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Equivalent qualification;
- Diesel mechanic background with previous heavy vehicle experience;
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant industry experience;
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills;
- Well-developed diagnostic skills (computer based mechanical systems highly desirable);
- Minimum MR licence;
- Computer literate.
